Mount Kelimutu has three coloured lakes, above is Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai (Lake of Young Men and Maidens) and Tiwu Ata Polo (Enchanted Lake) while Tiwu Ata Mbupu (Lake of Old People) is located in the westernmost of the others.

The first two lakes are typically green or red in color though they do vary on periodic basis.
